The Kyiv City Council decided this week to rename Minsk Avenue in the capital of Ukraine to Lithuania Avenue.
In total, it was decided to rename more than 40 streets, alleys, squares, boulevards and avenues, the names of which are related to Russia and Belarus, according to the council's website.
Volodymyr Bondarenka, deputy mayor and secretary of the Kyiv city council, said that it is necessary to remove hostile place names from the city map. According to him, a decision will be made on the renaming of the remaining objects by the end of September.
V. Bondarenka told the "Ukrainska pravda" internet portal that a total of 279 objects have been identified that are related to the aggressor country and its allies and that need to be renamed.
