If you chose to spend the weekend on the coast of Lithuania, tourism specialists advise you to choose recreation and entertainment during which you will not only rest, but also gather impressions for a long time. Accompanied by a guide or on your own, you will discover such interesting things on the seashore and seashore that you did not know about. Night canoe trip on the river Klaipėda, a trip to the Curonian Lagoon while observing Europe's largest bird colony, a view of the Baltic Sea while cruising on a sea scooter - these are just some of the never-before-experienced entertainment for the family, a group of friends or individual travelers, which the designers of the new tourist route invite you to try.

The new route connects the surroundings of Palanga, Klaipėda city and district, Curonian Spit and Šilute. You are invited to get to know the seaside not only on land, but also from the water. Route direction: from the seaside to the west towards the Curonian Spit.

A new route called "Pleasant Fatigue" is intended for lovers of active recreation and water sports. This is one of the three new tourist routes created by the Klaipėda region association. They are organized by the Klaipėda Tourism and Culture Information Center.

"If rest means more to you than lying on the beach or quiet walks in the park, try entertainment that will require endurance, but in return you will get unforgettable experiences, and maybe you will find a new hobby," says Klaudija Kionies, head of the "Klaipėdos Regionas" association.

Hiking in Dane at night and romance on the cliff of Holland's Hat

In Klaipėda, you can not only ride water bikes on the Danė River, but you can go on a day or night trip in handmade wooden canoes. This entertainment is suitable even if you are picking up paddles for the first time.

In two hours, accompanied by an experienced paddler-guide, you will overcome a distance of three kilometers in the water. This trip will bring joy to the eyes and pleasant fatigue to the body.

"Go to the village of Karklė if you want to see a slightly different seaside and wild beaches, to which pine-lined paths lead through the pine forest. It is here that Klaipėda residents themselves usually go to rest and gain strength. While walking through the forest on the way to the beach, you can find mushrooms and berries, and if you look from the 24-meter-high Olando Kepurės cliff, you can admire a breathtaking view of the sea," says Romena Savickienė, director of the Klaipėda Tourism and Culture Information Center.

Surfboards, paddle boards, sea scooters, canoes: in the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon

According to K. Kionias, lovers of active and even extreme recreation choose Palanga's Kunigiškiu beach. Here, professional and experienced coaches help you to try sailing in the sea with surfboards or paddleboards and to see the Baltic Sea in a different way - by slicing the waves on a sea scooter.

"The organizers of Nida's water entertainment also promise impressive views and new experiences, because here from the water you can see things that are not accessible to those traveling on foot or by bicycle." The "Dead Dunes" water route continues next to the Naglii Nature Reserve, where walking is prohibited. Thus, travelers can sail through the Curonian Lagoon in canoes and see the old Pervalka lighthouse, Zirgai Raga, Murusias Kopas, as well as the largest colony of gray herons and cormorants in Europe", K. Kionies presents one of the most interesting entertainments.

To the sea - more wind and waves

For those who want more adrenaline, it is recommended to try windmills in Nida, which are safe and suitable for even five-year-old children, as well as power kites, to swim under the Curonian Lagoon on a yacht or sea catamaran.

If you are vacationing in Juodkrante, take a boat to Dreverna. After climbing to the 15-meter-high observation tower, you will admire wonderful views of the Curonian Lagoon, Dead Dunes. To explore Drevern from the water, you can rent a water bike, kayak, paddle board. According to K. Kionies, the small boat port of Dreverna, established in the old fishing village, is good for both rest and entertainment. For the convenience of travelers, there are rest houses, camping, and rental boats.

Just a few kilometers from Dreverna is Svencelė, which has become the capital of kitesurfers: the water sports base located on the coast of the Curonian Lagoon welcomes everyone, both beginners and professionals. The entire recreational complex is located here. "The Curonian Lagoon near Svencele is shallow, the water surface is flat, constant winds prevail, so it is not only convenient to "kitten" here, but also safe," assures R. Savickienė.

The route will also aim to attract tourists from abroad

According to K. Kionies, head of the association "Klaipėdos regionas", even vacationers who come to the seaside every year are surprised by how many beautiful things they haven't seen and tried yet. "In order to visit all the places recommended on the "Pleasant Tiredness" route, you will need all four days, but you can also choose a one-day or two-day trip, choosing the most interesting for you from all the attractions. The route was created thanks to the "Baltic Sea Tourism Center" project. We want to show both Lithuanian and foreign travelers the undiscovered beauty and uniqueness of the seashore and seashore," says K. Kionies.
