Conditions have been created to choose studies according to one's wishes, and admission to the fields required by the state is encouraged with special scholarships. This year, a record number of first-year students received state funding at universities since 2012, as well as twice as many as were admitted to pedagogical studies last year," says Minister of Education, Science and Sports Algirdas Monkevičius.

901 first-year students will start their studies in study programs providing teacher qualifications (2019 – 429), of which 580 will be in state-funded places (2019 – 249). The largest number of future pedagogy students chose pedagogy studies at Vytautas Didios University (123), childhood pedagogy at Vilnius College (98) and preschool and pre-school education at Kaunas College (82).
The number of people receiving state funding for studies at universities is increasing
In universities, 9,2 thousand contracts for state-financed places (in 2019 – 7 thousand). The average competitive score of those studying here is 7,56, the highest score is among those admitted to the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater (9,85).
The most contracts for state-funded places were concluded with Vilnius University (3), Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (868) and Kaunas University of Technology (1). The largest number of students collected Vilnius University Law study program (250), Kaunas University of Technology Program Systems (237) and Vilnius University Economics study programs (205).
Entrants with colleges totaled 4,3 thousand. of state-financed study contracts (2019 thousand in 4,7). Their average competitive score is 6,03, and the highest score is that of Vilnius College of Design students (9,06).
In the college sector, entrants concluded the most state-funded study contracts with Vilnius College (1), Kaunas College (314) and Klaipėda State College (1).
