Mykolas Romeris University continues to support and will pay special attention to the optimization process of the university network.
On September 13, the Council of Mykolas Romeris University passed a resolution proposing the conclusion of a three-year strategic partnership (joint activity) agreement between Mykolas Romeris University and Vilnius Gediminas University of Technology. connection issues and activities in order to create a unique university based on the synergy of technological and social sciences, ensuring the competitive quality of studies and science at the Lithuanian and international level.
Such a decision of the Council was made taking into account the fact that from 2017 in the merger negotiations between Mykolas Romeris University and Vilnius Gediminas University of Technology, which have taken place so far, it has not been possible to harmonize all the provisions that ensure the continuity of the activities of all the strong scientific and study cores developed at Mykolas Romeris University and which allow to concentrate the potential of technological, social and humanitarian sciences of a unique combination in one university.
The Council also approved the decision that after the expiration of the strategic partnership (joint activity) agreement between Mykolas Romeris University and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, the governing bodies of both universities would evaluate the results of the implementation of the strategic partnership (joint activity) agreement and until 2022. December 31 submit proposals to the Government regarding the consolidation of Mykolas Romeris University and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.
According to Roma Žakaitienė, chairwoman of the council of Mykolas Romeris University, Mykolas Romeris University will continue to pay special attention to the consolidation process. "We will strive for the creation of a university that meets the highest study and research quality standards, rather than a mechanical merger of universities," emphasized R. Žakaitienė.
