Vilnius is allocating 900 thousand euros this year to promote informal employment and plans to employ more than 14 thousand children in camps during the summer. Some of the camps will be completely free for children or partially financed by the municipality.
"The school year will soon end and children will go on summer vacation for a couple of months. However, adults do not have the luxury of putting work aside and going on vacation with their children for the whole summer. Responding to the need for quality children's employment during the summer, we are happy to contribute to the organization of meaningful activities - and we will continue to allocate funding for the implementation of quality children's summer recreation programs. Therefore, I sincerely invite you to take advantage of the wide selection of summer camps," - Vilnius Vice Mayor Donalda Meiželytė addresses the parents of the capital.
Summer camps will provide children with the opportunity to improve and discover themselves in various areas, maintain their motivation to learn after the school year, and help strengthen social skills, creativity, and self-confidence.
What will Vilnius camps offer this summer?
This summer, children in the capital will be able to choose from a wide range of activities. 308 children's summer camp programs participated in the competition, of which 233 programs were the best evaluated and received funding - summer camps of sports, artistic, tourist, educational, technological, language training and other profiles.
The programs offer as many as 133 day camps within Vilnius and 90 stationary camps with temporary accommodation in Vilnius, Klaipėda, in Palanga, Molėtai and other Lithuanian cities, as well as 11 mobile (traveling) camps.
The total number of camp shifts this year is 628, and camp prices range from free to 50 EUR per day. The camps are intended to accommodate 14 children, including 320 in a more vulnerable social situation and 2 with special educational needs.
