The International Association of Universities (IAU), which unites more than 600 universities in the world, together with StoryWorks, a division of the United Kingdom's national broadcaster BBC Worldwide, is preparing a series of documentary films "Aiming Higher", which will tell about the world's universities, their role, and their importance to modern society. and its developments. The BBC creative team plans to visit universities in 30 different countries. This list also includes the only university from the Baltic States - Mykolas Romeris University.
The International Association of Universities has identified four strategic directions for the development of global higher education to which it will pay special attention - internationality, technology, leadership and sustainable development. These films will reveal how different universities from different countries of the world pursue these goals, what are their good practices and experiences.

According to the Rector of Mykolas Romeris University, Professor Inga Žalėnienė, the United Nations already approved a strategy for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, in which a lot of attention is paid to the active involvement of university researchers and communities. "International academic communities are really gathering and actively taking leadership in order to solve the major challenges of global society, such as the availability of quality education for all, climate change, cyber security, preservation and strengthening of democracy, reduction of social exclusion, integration of refugees and others," says I. Žalėnienė. - Our university has been actively participating in the activities of the International University Association and other thematic international university networks for many years. We are gradually and consistently starting to implement the sustainable development strategy. We are happy that millions of viewers around the world will learn about our work."

The BBC creative team has already visited SOCIN'2019, an international, interdisciplinary social innovation conference held at the Mykolas Romeris University.
