The beginning of the school year is often not only a joy for children and teachers, but also a challenge to return to a disciplined routine after the holidays. In order for the learning and working environment to be trouble-free and pleasant and comfortable, the Vilnius development company renovates and modernizes educational institutions.
The reconstruction of the Antakalnis primary school was completed this September, the repair works will soon be completed at the S. Stanevičius high school, and as many as 9 educational facilities will be renovated in the next two years.
Antakalnis primary school, located in the premises of the special education center "Aidas" (Šilo st. 15) two years ago, welcomes children today with an unrecognizable change. An extension with four new classrooms was built, the principles of universal design were applied here - a modern and multifunctional gym, a library with a reading room, and a school adapted for those with individual needs. The area of the school has been expanded so that now almost 100 more students can study here than the previous 240.
The environment is arranged for outdoor games, where games and recreation areas are installed. The exterior of the building was also repaired: the roof covering was replaced, the facade was insulated and covered with decorative plaster, ventilation was installed to ensure fresh air, and the electrical installation was also replaced.
The Antakalnis primary school reconstruction project, like many public objects managed by the Vilnius development company, was prepared according to BIM (building information modeling & management) principles. This helped to avoid gross errors and complete the project on time according to the expected deadlines.
Last year, 25 educational institutions in the city of Vilnius underwent modernization (reducing energy consumption costs), simple and capital internal and external repair works, and new annexes were built at the Gabija and Balsia pro-gymnasiums. Total work done for 24 million. Eur.
Currently, the Vilnius development company is renovating four schools - J. Lelevelis engineering gymnasium, V. Sirokomlė gymnasium, J. Vienožinskis art school and S. Stanevičius pro-gymnasium. The new gymnasium in Tolminkiemi is under construction and will open its doors in September of next year, and a new nursery-kindergarten is also being built in Bajorai.
By the middle of next year, tenders for the construction works will be announced for the objects currently being designed, so in the next two years, seven new educational institutions will appear in the capital: five kindergartens in the rapidly growing districts of Pashilaičiai and In Pilaite, in Antakalni MRU pro-gymnasium is being established, a new school will also be built in Bajorai.
It is planned to modernize already functioning schools and kindergartens, as well as school sports grounds and non-formal education institutions. The "Malūnėlis" kindergarten, the A. Mickevičius lyceum, the Lazdynai, Gabija playgrounds, the Žirmūnai gymnasium swimming pool, the Vyturi and Šeškina primary schools, and non-formal education centers will be renovated.
