The renovated schools in Vilnius contribute to the capital's sustainability goals - the renovated buildings not only change externally, but also become safer, more comfortable and more energy efficient, and operating costs decrease. Currently planned to renovate the Vilnius St. Kristoforos Gymnasium and Simon Daukantas Pro-Gymnasium are looking for designers to prepare the reconstruction projects of these two educational institutions in the capital.
"We work in a targeted manner, not only designing new schools that meet modern educational needs, but we also pay special attention to the renovation of existing schools. We aim for all educational institutions in the capital without exception to be environmentally friendly and comfortable for both students and teachers working in them", says the mayor of Vilnius Valdas Benkunskas.
Among the city's latest plans is to renovate St. Kristoforos Gymnasium, address: Kazliškių st. 4, and Simon Daukantas high school at Naugarduko st. 7. The Vilnius Development Company has announced public procurements, which are looking for suppliers to design the reconstruction of these two schools.
During the reconstruction of both buildings, the existing spaces will be fundamentally remodeled and, if possible, additional premises will be built. Next to the 3-story St. A new 300-400 sq. m. m total area extension for additional school premises. Vilnius Simon Daukantas pro-gymnasium can also be enlarged by installing a small 2-storey superstructure.
"For the tenders for the reconstruction of both schools, we set requirements to redesign the premises, reorganize the engineering systems, increase the energy efficiency of the buildings, adapt the schools and their access for people with disabilities, as well as renew the decoration of the premises. The aim is to ensure that the communities of these schools can enjoy modern and ergonomic working and learning spaces", says Laura Joffė, head of the Vilnius development company overseeing the project.
Designers will prepare projects in which not only the interior of both schools, but also the environment will have to be planned. According to the project, the contractors will later have to install tracks, lighting, spaces for community events, form recreation, sports or other spaces suitable for outdoor education and preserve valuable greenery.
Currently, Vilnius St. More than 600 students study at Kristoforos high school, 45 teachers and 30 service and other staff work. More than 950 students study at Simon Daukantas high school and more than 80 teachers and about 30 serving and other staff work.
