On June 11 The Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, will announce this year's second call for cultural and art institutions, artists and cultural educators to submit applications for the selection of Culture Passport services for students of all grades. Applications will be accepted until June 28.
The evaluation of applications will take into account the so-called thematic priority of the three-year Cultural Passport. According to Vice-Minister of Culture Gintautė Žemaitytė, it meets the 16th Sustainable Development Goal of the United Nations - to encourage societies for sustainable development, to give everyone the opportunity to demand justice and to create effective, responsible and inclusive institutions.
"This topic is very broad, and its main emphasis is the pursuit of justice, ensuring basic human freedoms and the right to information, special attention to children and concern for the growing generation. Culture and art have been talking about this topic in one form or another for centuries. It was also emphasized by the United Nations, which set the Sustainable Development Goals. Culture passport service providers are recommended that the service they offer corresponds to the thematic priority, but it is not mandatory, as before, applications on free topics will be accepted and considered," said Vice Minister of Culture G. Žemaitytė.
According to her, when forming a set of services, culture and art institutions are encouraged to pay more attention to less popular areas of culture and art, to update existing services.
A cultural passport is a tool that allows you to attend a variety of cultural and artistic events with state funds: performances, concerts, exhibitions, educational and cultural activities. 15 euros are allocated to the student's cultural passport for the year, for which you can choose about four cultural and artistic services - cultural events, cultural education classes or cultural events in which cultural education also takes place. The price of the offered services ranges from 0,3 to 15 euros, and some services are free.
Since April 2019, the Culture Passport has been fully operational. Since the beginning of this school year, 400 cultural and art services have been offered to elementary school students, and after the first call for Cultural Passport services this year in March, the expert commission selected more than 700 additional services for schoolchildren of all grades. The total number of services currently exceeds 1100.
