Over 10 people visited the observation tower in Biršton on Friday. people.

"There was a walk on Saturday, there were several routes through the tower, which of course generates a few thousand. And there are still fans coming who want to be the first," Rūta Kapačinskaitė, head of the Birštonas tourism information center, told BNS.

"I myself stood at the tower after work on Friday to regulate the flow of people," she added.

Birštonas observation tower is the highest in Lithuania, its site is located at a height of 45 meters. Up to 40 people are allowed in the tower at a time, at least for now.

In the first days after the opening, the staff of the Nemunas loop regional park management managed the flow of visitors.

According to the temporary head of the directorate, Renato Jakaitis, some visitors had to wait in lines for several hours.

"People are understanding, there haven't been many incidents of forcing someone to push themselves. But everyone wants to visit for the first few days, and because of that, some waited in line for two or three hours," the environmentalist told BNS.

"Huge traffic, huge," he added.

It is announced that the tower is currently open for visits from seven in the morning to ten in the evening, its visit is free.

"The tower is being locked at night because there is no possibility of someone working there XNUMX hours a day. There are no funds, no positions, no specialists. It is unlocked at seven in the morning and locked at ten," said R. Jakaitis.

In the future, it is planned that the tower will be open XNUMX hours a day. Currently, it is recommended to visit the tower on weekdays when there are fewer people.
