What would a perfumer say about Lithuania, visiting our country for the first time? Spanish niche perfumer Salvador Montesinos would answer without hesitation – Lithuania smells of forest, wet earth and wood. These scents, according to the creator, not only reflect the local landscape, but also evoke emotions and encourage new ideas.
According to the perfumer, every country has its own unique scent. He described Lithuania as a land of natural aromas: "When I arrived here, the first thing I felt was the smell of the forest mixed with wet earth. It's a very strong, even somewhat mystical combination. Patchouli also smells like wet soil - a very interesting parallel. I believe this can become an inspiration for a new creation."
Perfumer S. Montesinos, who spent several days in Lithuania, says that each fragrance he creates is inspired by personal travels and adventures. His wife Josefina, a professional flamenco dancer, also actively participates in the creative process.
"She is my muse: she is the first to approve or reject my ideas. She is an artist with an incredibly sensitive soul and sense of smell. And the fact that she can express scents through dance is a huge gift to me. Each scent, like a dance, can be romantic, passionate, gentler, calmer, or extremely passionate and strong. After all, it all depends on the mood - we can express ourselves differently each time," says S. Montesinoso.
The perfumer shared his impressions at an exclusive cultural evening held at the Akropolis. During the event, S. Montesinos, together with his wife, professional flamenco dancer Josefina, presented the Botanicae brand and three new fragrances inspired by personal travels, historical events, and prominent personalities.
"Such events "for us it is an opportunity to both present exceptional creators and enrich the shopping experience of visitors with interesting education and performances. We aim for the shopping and entertainment center to be not only a place to purchase goods, but also a leisure space where impressions and discoveries are born," says "Acropolis Group's marketing and communication manager Dominykas Mertinas.
The event organizer, perfume distributor in Lithuania, and founder of Krispo, Kristina Strolienė, was pleased that the stories of such creators are finding a place in our market. “This evening was not only about scents, but also about cultural experience, about scent as an art form. Lithuanians’ interest in Spanish perfumes has already exceeded all expectations, although bringing them to Lithuania was not easy,” she says.
During the evening, three new Botanicae fragrances were introduced to the rhythm of flamenco dancing, each telling a unique story. "Ithaca" symbolizes the desire to travel and longing for home, "Endurance" - the legendary expedition of Ernest Shackleton to the South Pole, and "Taro" is dedicated to the courageous German photojournalist Gerda Taro.
