One of the most popular tools for getting to know the capital - the platform "Invisible Vilnius" - has been inviting you to discover the capital for two and a half years and offers educational routes through the playful prism of Vilnius studies - here the routes are divided into history, architecture, arts, nature and other areas of "study" of the city. From now on, exploring the city will be even easier - the free mobile app "Invisible Vilnius" is introduced.
From the secrets of the old town to the discoveries in the districts
As "Informal Vilnius" grew, the number of routes increased, the ranks of those using them expanded, and their needs changed. The well-known situation of our planet also suggested that it is necessary to reduce paper maps and become more environmentally friendly. All these highlights led to the creation of a mobile app - now dozens of routes can lie comfortably in everyone's pocket, it's easy to share them, recommend them to friends and, of course, collect a collection of completed routes on your phone," says the project manager about the new format of "Neakivaidinis Vilnius". Vilnius city municipalities Sonata Griškienė, senior advisor of the Department of Foreign Relations and Tourism.
After downloading the mobile app, you will be able to choose from more than 50 routes. After immersing yourself in the studies of the districts of the capital, you will get to know the life that is boiling in them - from the wooden Žvēryn to the fortresses of Pilaitė, from the railway neighbors Naujininkai to the bohemian Užupis and many others. Currently, you can choose from 25 different districts, including Paupys, a newcomer to the capital, and Grigiškės, an exclusive part of Vilnius. Those who do not want to stick their nose out of the old town will like the routes that will allow you to look at already known places in a different way. Among them are literary, artistic and architectural routes that invite you to take a closer look at the details of the buildings of the old town and get to know the most interesting personalities of Vilnius. Nature lovers and families with children will also find their favorite routes in the app.
After choosing where they will travel, city explorers will conveniently see their place on the route on the screen, and those who want to read less and explore more will be able to hear interesting information about the visited objects in headphones, as most of the routes in the app are voiced.
Vilnius is not only for walks
In addition to Vilnius experience studies, users will also find the "After lectures" section in the app. These are places that are recommended to be visited additionally. The face of Vilnius is not only made up of its history, architecture, or famous people who once lived there, but also the art and cultural institutions operating here today, as well as cozy cafes. Those walking along the routes will be able to see the favorite or lesser-known places of Vilnius residents near the route, which are good places to visit to cool off in the summer, and to warm up with a cup of tea in the winter.
You can download the mobile app "Invisible Vilnius" for free Google Play ir App Store in stores.
