Potato season in Lithuania. The end of potato digging and the start of a hearty meal with zeppelins. Therefore, the national tourism promotion agency, which surprises every season with unusual travel routes, "Travel in Lithuania" created the Zeppelin map. Travelers are invited not only to travel, but also to discover the unexpected flavors of djukukuli in various regions of the country.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, a Lithuanian person eats about 250 g of potatoes per day, that is, almost 100 kg per year. It's true, according to Snieguolė Valiaugaitė, head of communication projects at "Keliauk Lithuania", according to this indicator, Lithuanians are not among the top ten potato fans in the world. It turns out that Chinese, Indians, Americans and Russians cannot live without potatoes more than Lithuanians.
"Although we are not the nation that eats the most potatoes in the world, and zeppelins are not the official national dish of Lithuania, as shown by last year's "National Dish" elections, Lithuanians still cannot imagine the country's cuisine without dižkukulii. In addition, a rare visiting tourist does not indulge in gastronomic experiences - tasting zeppelins is on almost every traveler's list, if you come across them," S. Valiaugaitė shares her observations.
"Travel in Lithuania" has been consistently developing the direction of gastronomic tourism for several years. And the agency decided to present a map of unusual Zeppelins to the local market, taking into account seasonality, increased local tourism flows and the currently ongoing "Third Night" project, which invites Lithuanians to travel and taste the country for a longer time - if you book two or more nights in accommodation establishments in a row, you will get the third one for free .
The prepared map includes zeppelins with cod, cottage cheese and mint, beaver, rabbit, carrots. Also - an invitation to visit the Potato Museum, pass the Potato Road, admire the Potato sculptures in Kretinga and Rokiškis districts.
