A memorable trip is not only a beautiful view, but also a never-before-tasted dish, new entertainment or an engaging story. Lithuania is extremely rich in such discoveries, because our country has as many as five different ethnographic regions with unique experiences. The national tourism promotion agency VšĮ invites you to discover them this season.Travel in Lithuania", launching the campaign "Experience the summer you want to share" on May 15.
The campaign, which provides new ideas for travel in Lithuania, offers to experience something unique in each ethnographic region of our country. According to Dovilė Seliukė, head of marketing and communication at VšĮ "Keliauk Lietuvoje", the main focus of this season is experiences that you want to share and stories that you want to tell others.
"It is no longer necessary to encourage Lithuanians to travel around their country - compatriots are actively traveling themselves, they want to get to know Lithuania. However, we find that often these trips take the most popular roads, and real gems can be missed simply out of ignorance. Sometimes we don't even imagine what interesting stories are told and new discoveries are given by those regions of Lithuania that we often pass by or hesitate to visit. That's why we want to invite you to venture into new horizons and offer travelers real, unique experiences whose stories would make them want to know deeper, stay longer and create their own experiences and unforgettable memories. After all, the best stories are the ones we experience ourselves," says D. Seliukė.
We invite you to start an active season of travel around Lithuania with a campaign during which we will encourage travelers to taste, touch, hear a new story, try activities and rediscover all the country's ethnographic regions. We invite you to create a unique collection of impressions by visiting the "Travel in Lithuania" website https://lithuania.travel/lt/kur-nuvykti/regionai, where travelers will find experiences for this summer in different ethnographic regions of Lithuania.
Whether you're looking for relaxation or active entertainment, the new guide will help you "unlock" a wide variety of experiences. Lithuania is traditionally divided into five ethnographic regions, characterized by their own culture and customs, so new discoveries and experiences are hidden in each area of the country.
To experience Džukija invited through therapy in nature, visiting mounds shrouded in legends, educational trails, where there are even magical ducks or "iron frogs". Or challenge yourself and try a rope flight across the Nemunas, summer sledding, the most extreme tire descent in Lithuania, lessons at a horse riding stable. You can stop for a well-deserved break in treehouses or unusual cafes, for example in a carriage of a train that has finished its journey or in a former water tower by the railway of the station.
Did you know that in the famous for bears Žemaitija in the capital, Telšiai, shtetl life was once boiling, and students from all over the world came to the yeshiva, a Jewish high school? Don't miss Kelme, a town that turns into an open-air gallery. You can experience the nature of Žemaitija by looking from the observation tower above the confluence of two rivers or even the railway bridge.
Count In the highlands the waiting experiences and stories will not be enough on your fingers: from the spirit of "little Paris". Beautiful to voices from the "Lithuanian Atlantis", from the heritage of the First World War to the highlands of the Curonian Spit between the brother lakes, from the riverbed of the expeditions to the field of sunflowers, where it is always bright. In Aukštaitija, you will hear about the "Lithuanian Disneyland", and about a private observatory, and other places that undeservedly remain in the shadow of big cities.
Meanwhile only In Suvalkija you can have a picnic in the manor park among hundreds of apple trees, climb the mounds that do not descend on the Kernavė complex or wade through the country's only stream-street. Only here, a flight path of cranes stretches over rural tourism homesteads, goats keep company on hikes through the forests, and next to the only pheasant in Lithuania, a herring mine surrounded by stories is reborn.
Small Lithuania - a unique region, where you will find one of the most impressive places in Lithuania: the Curonian Spit that resembles the surface of another planet, a bird's paradise in the Nemunas delta, or the village of Minija, whose streets run by boats. And where else is the garden, where not fruit trees bloom, but paintings? "Lithuanian California" beach suitable for surfers? A hotel on the water or a campsite with the most beautiful view in the whole country?
