Lithuanian National Museum presents the mobile exhibition "History Wags Its Tail", which can now also be visited at the Vilnius Shopping and Entertainment Center "Acropolis". This exhibition is a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the history of the coexistence of humans and dogs from ancient times to the present day. The exhibition is displayed in an unconventional space - a shopping mall, with the aim of bringing history closer to visitors' everyday lives and encouraging them to become interested in cultural heritage.
Dogs are participants in history
The exhibition "History Wags Its Tail", which is open at the House of History, invites visitors to look at dogs not only as loyal friends of man, but also as important participants in history. Various artifacts are exhibited here, testifying to the role of dogs in different periods of history - from the Stone Age to the present day. Visitors can see authentic dog skeletons, archaeological finds, works of art and other exhibits that reveal the place of dogs in human life throughout the ages.
This exhibition is presented not only in the traditional museum spaces, but also in the Vilnius Akropolis shopping center. “Our goal is to bring history closer to people. The exhibition stand in the shopping center allows us to reach those who might not visit the museum. It is a way to talk about history in a modern way – where people spend their time in everyday life – and encourage them to visit the museum,” says Jurga Strimaitienė, Head of the Communication and Marketing Department of the National Museum of Lithuania.
Exhibition in an unconventional space
Vilnius Akropolis is one of the most visited shopping centers in Lithuania, attracting thousands of people every day. Many young people and families visit here, so the mobile stand of the exhibition "History Wags Its Tail" becomes an attractive opportunity for children, teenagers and their parents to learn about history in a different way. "The shopping center is a great place to reach a wide audience. We are pleased to be able to contribute to the educational initiative and offer visitors a cultural experience in a familiar space," - says Paulius Pocius, Marketing and Communications Manager at Akropolis Group.
The exhibition will be open at the shopping center until the end of summer - it invites visitors to pause and look at history through the prism of dog-human friendship.
The exhibition is supported by the general sponsor KIKA, which has been contributing to the welfare, education and responsible animal care of dogs in Lithuania for many years. “It is important for us not only to care for the welfare of animals today, but also to promote understanding of their importance in the history of mankind. We are pleased to support an initiative that enlightens and inspires. This partnership of ours is not just an investment, it is a joint creative process. Culture is a living organism, it grows, changes, and reacts to the world. Therefore, a business that supports culture invests in the identity, values and community of society,” says Janita J. Plungė, founder of KIKA Group.
