Sunday in Ramona (JAV) in the prestigious discus throwing competition held in Lithuania, an exceptional achievement shook the Lithuanian sports world – Mykolas Alekna improved the world record twice. The Lithuanian who achieved an impressive result will also receive a solid cash prize.
On her first attempt, M. Alekna threw the discus 74,89 meters - this was the first record of the day, with which the athlete improved her own world result. However, the fourth attempt became historic - the discus flew as far as 75,57 meters, and this result is now recorded as a new world record.
According to the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee (LNOC), Mykolas Alekna received 2000 US dollars (about 1860–1880 euros) for winning the competition. However, a much more substantial sum awaited him for setting the world record – another 14 US dollars (about 000 euros).
In total, the Lithuanian earned about 16 US dollars (almost 000 euros) for his impressive performance in Ramona.
