The company creating the new Vilnius basketball club "Basketball Holding Company“ (BHC) announces that it has decided on its choice - the company will enter the country's sports market by acquiring one of the existing teams of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) teams.
According to the president of Basketball Holding Company, Rimantas Kaukėnas, the market has been analyzed for the last six months in search of the best way to achieve the goal set by the company - to compete in the Lithuanian Basketball League starting next season.
"In the last six months, we analyzed all the ways to get into the LKL, because we want to play in this league since the fall. We considered several options for acquiring clubs, assessed their situation, communicated with LKL and representatives of various teams. We took into account all the circumstances and the fact that due to "Avia Solutions Group"due to the reconstruction of the arena, we will temporarily be forced to play on another field", said the president of BHC Rimantas Kaukėnas.
"We never hid the fact that we were looking for the most attractive and efficient way to enter the sports market. After evaluating all the circumstances, we made a decision and today we announce and confirm that "Basketball Holding Company" will acquire one of the existing LKL teams", confirmed R. Kaukėnas.
The president of BHC says that he understands that the basketball community will be very interested to know which team it is, but he is not naming it yet, claiming that such behavior before the end of the LKL season would be disrespectful.
"I fully understand that everyone is curious about which club we chose, but out of respect for the team, its administration, fans, the city and the sports community, we believe that revealing such information now would be simply disrespectful and tactless. We consider respect to be one of the core values of the club we are creating, so we will reveal everything on April 28 - after the completion of the club acquisition process and the end of the regular LKL season," added R. Kaukėnas.
