The 100 km off-road course installed this summer (between) on the route around Vilnius you can meet more and more people. The route, with its wonderful nature and excellent panoramic views, was loved by everyone - people who love an active and healthy lifestyle, professionals and lovers of off-road running.
Every Monday in September will continue Vilnius city municipalities and VšĮ "Sveiko miesto" initiated free "trail" running training with the member of the Lithuanian Orienteering Sports Federation (LOSF), multiple Lithuanian champion Vilius Aleliūnas.
During the first seven sessions, training participants were able to overcome the sections of the track stretching between Table Mountain, Pūčkiori exposure, Burbiškii, Pasakė park, Šeškinė ozo and other picturesque areas of the capital. It is interesting that every time you pass the same section, the nature and views can be different, as the grass grows in the summer, the nature changes naturally, the leaves fall and new colors appear in the autumn.
"More and more people are testing the track, we get various feedbacks. The grass shows that quite a few people have tried this trail in the summer. The training participants respond joyfully about the track, their emotions are good. I just noticed that most people expect an easier path than it actually is", said V. Aleliūnas.
The last training sessions will take place in no less impressive locations. September 7 and 14 at 18 p.m. the sections between Verkii and Zalijii lakes will be overcome, on September 21 there will be a run from Verkii to Antakalnis, and on September 28 the last training session will take place, during which the finish will be at the place where the start of the first session was given - on Table Mountain.
"The last stages are known to many people, because, for example, there are a lot of trails around the Green Lakes, and quite a few people have walked at least part of the route. The route from Verkii to Antakalnis via the Cross Roads is also quite popular. The last section in Sapiegyne will be physically difficult, but with beautiful panoramas. In any case, we invite you to try each section, because everywhere there is at least part of the route that is little known. Our goal is to show not only the usual and widest roads, but also smaller tracks, where you can have fun, walk or run with your family and children", emphasized V. Aleliūnas.
The initiators of the track promise an active and meaningful time to everyone who wants to try the track during the training sessions in September.
"We can promise you an autumn panorama, multi-colored trees and a great time in nature," added the famous orienteer.
V. Aleliūnas has mentioned that the Vilnius 100 km track should attract athletes from abroad in the future, and large international off-road running competitions could also take place. As a result, the track is still under development. It is planned to improve the route marking from October.
