Vilnius city municipality, which last weekend announced the beginning of waiting for the holidays, has prepared another festive surprise for the people of Vilnius. It has been announced when the Fabijoniškės swimming pool, which is expected by all Vilnius residents, will be opened. Its opening ceremony will take place on December 31 this year, and residents of Vilnius will be able to visit the pool immediately after New Year's. The new, modern Fabijoniškių swimming pool on S. Neries Street was built in just over a year.
The 25-meter-long, 8-lane swimming pool will have a sauna area, exercise rooms, gyms, a grandstand for 100 spectators, changing rooms for 140 visitors, parking for cars near the pool parking lots.
Vilnius has not seen the construction of a new swimming pool for three decades. Professional athletes are looking forward to this pool, who will finally be able to train and prepare for important competitions in their city, and under a special program, the capital's sophomores will learn to swim here during physical education lessons.
It is planned that after the construction of a second new swimming pool and the inclusion of private sports club pools, all XNUMX secondary school students in Vilnius will be able to learn to swim.
The swimming pool will be taken care of by the capital's municipal institution "Healthy City". The operator of the new swimming pool will have to take care of not only the maintenance of the building, but also the training conditions of the athletes, the program of learning to swim for the second time in the capital, and will ensure quality services for the residents of the city for the entire contract period - 20 years.
The construction of the swimming pool on S. Nėries Street cost the municipality 3,1 million. euros. The pool was built by the company "Irdaiva" together with the company "Statybos kodas".
