The fourth Vilnius derby of this season will be held at Betsafe-LKL" championships will take place on May 4 at the brand new "Wolves Twinsbet" training center, which opened its doors in the expanding business campus of the capital's airport, the "Aerottoria" arena.
The leaders of the Lithuanian Basketball League have approved this arena, where up to 1350 spectators will be able to watch sports events, as the reserve basketball arena for the "Vilkų" team, so official matches of the LKL championships or the "Citadele KMT" Cup tournament can be played there.
According to club manager Andrius Žiauberis, the decision to move the match to the Aerottoria Arena was made due to the still unconfirmed occupancy of the Twinsbet Arena on the first weekend of May. At the same time, this match will also help launch the new Wolves Twinsbet sports base into the market.
"The question of where we will organize the last regular championship match against Rytas has been open for a long time, as the Twinsbet arena is still negotiating the possibility of organizing a private event on the first weekend of May. Therefore, after the training center received all the permits and licenses to operate the building and its arena, we decided not to wait any longer," said A. Žiauberis. "By choosing the Vilnius team derby for its symbolic opening, we aim to introduce our team's new home to the country's basketball community. The derby always attracts greater public attention both in the city and throughout Lithuania, and the broadcasts receive high ratings, so this will be a great marketing move to introduce the training center and the Aerottoria arena."
The new sports complex will be open to the city community and business organizations. It will be possible to conveniently organize not only events of the country's strongest league, but also matches of the lower-tier Lithuanian championships, various tournaments or basketball camps.
By easily transforming the main arena hall into two smaller courts, basketball fans in the capital will have the opportunity to practice sports and play in city championships.
In addition to the basketball arena, the center also has a modern fitness center, where athletes will be able to use the most innovative fitness equipment that will help them not only maintain or strengthen their physical condition, but also recover faster after exertion or injuries.
