January 11 the 13th round of Nostra.lt-RKL was played, where the match of the week that ended dramatically in Kėdainiai and many other interesting duels took place.
Biršton's triumph in Kėdainiai
On Saturday, the match of the 16th week, where the teams of Kėdainiai sports center (14/3) and Birštonas Milastas (10/6) met, attracted the most attention. In the match held in Kėdainiai, after a hard fight, Birštonians celebrated the victory 71:67 (22:14, 17:19, 8:20, 24:14).
The guests had a better start to the match, leading halfway through the first quarter (20:11). In the second half, the picture did not change drastically, which allowed Biršton to take a 6-point advantage (39:33) into the long break. In the third quarter, the hosts, after playing a 13-0 run, broke the game in their favor (51:41) and went into the decisive quarter with a lead (53:47). In the middle of the fourth quarter, Kėdainiai still led by 9 points (61:52), but then Birštonas answered the opponents with a 10:0 run and took the lead (62:61). At the end of the match, the hosts tried to hang on to the game, but the guests, who showed a more solid defense, did not let the victory slip away.
Laurynas Miknevičius was unstoppable for the Birštonas team with 18 points, M. Lukauskis and M. Zutkis each had 12.
The Kėdaini team was led by Rokas ůzas, who scored 23 points, L. Danielius – 16, L. Bimba – 15.
Rito-MRU's second victory in a row
No less intrigue could be seen in Vilnius, where the local Vilnius Rytas-MRU (6/11) hosted the team of KK Kupiškis (8/8). The home team celebrated a 98:92 (16:25, 29:28, 23:19, 30:20) victory in a highly productive match.
Kupiškis looked more solid in the first half, leading after the first 10 minutes (25:16). In the middle of the second half, the people of Vilnius changed the result in their favor (39:38), but the visitors threw their shots and went to the long break with a lead (53:45). In the second half of the match, neither team managed to create an advantage. With less than a minute to play before the end of the game, the score was still tied (92:92), but the home team, standing at the free throw line, made no mistakes and won their second victory in a row.
The top scorer in the winning team was Vincas Adomaitis with 24 points, A.Pocius – 21, E.Sirgedas – 14, P.Kulikauskas – 13.
For Kupiškis, Tautvydas Alekna scored 22 points, A. Rybelis – 16, J. Maceikis and G. Jonaitis – 13 each, P. Blieka – 12.
Kazlų Rūda returns to winning ways
The weekend did not go well for the Prienai Tikodentas (6/10) team, which lost to the Kazlų Rūdas Ataka-Kaunas College team 81:89 (19:14, 19:25, 21:20, 22:30) at their home court.
The first three quarters were persistent and after the third quarter the score was equal (59:59). In the fourth quarter, the visitors took control of the match and after 5 minutes of play, Kazlų Rūda was ahead (78:68). Prienica did not give up and with one and a half minutes left to play they caught the opponents in one shot (82:81), but the guests scored important points, the hosts did not defend and Ataka-Kaunas college celebrated the victory.
In the Kazlų Rūda team, Gytis Asačiova scored 19 points, T. Sebežiova - 15, M. Makauskas and A. Krūminis - 13 each, M. Gelčius and K. Šarūkas added - 10 each.
G.Maceina scored 21 points, P.Steikūnas – 15, D.Šeškus and M.Kolesnikovas – 13 each in the Prieni team.
Difficult victory of Anykščiai in Švenčioneliai
There was no lack of interesting duels in the B division, where the team of Švenčionėlių Rida (5/8) was challenged by the team of Anykščiai KKSC Elmis (9/4). The guests from Anykščiai celebrated a hard-fought victory in the changing match 66:63 (24:19, 11:10, 17:15, 14:19).
Anykščiai held the lead for most of the match. In the middle of the fourth quarter, the guests already had a 13-point advantage (61:48) and the victory was already in Anykščiai's hands, but Rida did not give up. The opponents responded with an 8:0 period and returned to the
March (61:56). At the start of the last minute of the match, only 3 points separated the teams (66:63). Svenčionėliai had a chance to win extra time with a long shot, but I. Venskus was inaccurate and the guests triumphed.
