After the defeat in Šiauliai, "Žalgiris" coach Vladimiras Čeburins spoke about the big mistakes made.
In the duel against Šiauliai, Žalgiris could have taken the lead at the beginning of the match, but Marko Miličkovičius missed the penalty, and at the end of the first half, the rivals scored.
"We started well, confidently, we earned a penalty, we didn't score. There were other chances that we could have converted. The opponent defended well, compactly. In the first half, there were almost no quick counterattacks. But at the end of the first half we made a mistake, we conceded. We tried to recover in the second half. We wanted to score, we threw a large force into the attack. At the end, we started to miss the opponents' quick counterattacks. The opponent created dangerous chances. We made big mistakes and this led to the fact that the match was not won, but lost," the coach summarized the match.
He expressed his disappointment not only with the loss but also with Mathias Oyewusi's injury. The striker received an elbow blow from the opponent in the face area and was forced to change.
"It's a big loss that Mathias Oyewusi got injured and went to the hospital. He suffered an injury after the duel. It's a pity that we lost a player", stated the coach.
"Žalgiris" will play their next match on Saturday in Panevėžys.
