On the second day of the "2024 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championship Division I, Group B" tournament in Vilnius, the organizers faced additional challenges.
On the second day of the tournament, the match between the Netherlands and Ukraine had to be stopped to ensure that the quality of the ice met the required standards. Although the first half was stopped early, the teams later continued their performance.
Despite the additional challenges, the Twinsbet Arena problems were resolved by Sunday evening.
"There are challenges in ensuring the quality of the ice and this is often the case in multi-purpose arenas. Thanks to the efforts of the professional team of the championship organizers, the ice met all the requirements even in the evening itself. Since the national team is successfully marching towards victory in this championship, we expect more support for our team", said Remigijus Valickas, head of the organizing committee, about the challenges in the championship.
The World Championship in Vilnius will continue on Tuesday. The Lithuanian national team won two out of as many possible victories at 19:30 p.m. will face the Netherlands. You can buy tickets to the tournament at bilietai.lt
