An impressive gift awaits the Lithuanian swimming community and fans at the Vilnius Lazdynai swimming pool on April 3-6. The country's best swimmers will compete among 300 participants in the open "Akvilė" Lithuanian Swimming Championship - Dan Rapšys, Catherine Teterevkova, Ruta Meilutytė, Andrius Šidlauskas – and rising youth stars. For the first time, the final swims of the Lithuanian Championship will be broadcast live on television.
"We haven't had a Lithuanian championship of this level for more than ten years. Seeing our brightest swimming stars competing in our homeland is a dream for many members of our community. This will not only be a sports celebration, but also an opportunity for our swimmers to meet the standards of international competitions, including tickets to the World Championships in Singapore," said Saulius Binevičius, president of the LTU Aquatics association, which organizes the competition.
According to him, another gift for all swimming fans is that the "Akvilė" Lithuanian Swimming Championship will be available to watch for free - both at the Lazdynai swimming pool, and on the "LRT Plius" channel and the website LRT.LT.
The most famous Lithuanian swimmers are set to be challenged by the younger generation – national age group record holders Tajus Juška, Smiltė Plytnykaitė, Džiugas Miškinis and other fastest swimmers in the country.
