"Now there are a lot of all kinds of emotions inside. I'm very happy, it's even difficult to think soberly, to think about where the mistakes are and the like, but it will still be necessary to return home, to analyze, and until then I'd like to enjoy this record now", said Dz. Woodman.

He only recently returned from a training camp in the mountains of Sierra Nevada, where he trained for the competition together with Danas Rapšius, Andrius Šidlauskas, Kotryna Teterevkova and Rūta Meilutyte.

"The camp was both hard and fun. Still, swimming with Dan and other members of the Lithuanian national team was a very good experience and a lot of fun. I am satisfied with everything", - the record holder evaluated the work in the training camp.

Second place in the 1500m. won the match in style Kostas Vaičiūnas (16.27,53 min.), was third Titas Vaitukaitis (16.50,50 min.).

1500 ml. in style, women

Lithuanian record: 17:27.11 – Silvija Statkevičius (2022) FINA A norm: 16:29.57 Olympic OQT norm: 16:09.09

The morning of the first day of the competition was marked by a new Lithuanian age group record. He recorded it in the men's 50 m freestyle swimming qualification Tajus Juška from Kaunas sports school "Startas". The young athlete covered the distance in the morning qualification in 23,96 seconds. and improved Mantas Kavecks' achievement of the country's under-2015 boys since 15 (24,06 seconds).

Prior to this competition, his personal best in this event was 24,14 seconds.

T. Juška's time was third in the overall line-up of 113 participants. Only David Kazil (23,69 seconds) and Simon Doueihy (23,46 seconds) from Lebanon swam faster in the morning.

In addition to Lithuanians and Lebanese, athletes from Latvia and Estonia also participate in the championship.

Olympians, European Championship prize winners Andrius Šidlauskas and Kotryna Teterevkova also successfully passed the morning selections.

A. Šidlauskas was the first (2.20,20 min.) in the men's 200 m breaststroke qualification, and K. Teterevkova was second (50 sec.) in the non-main women's 28,25 m butterfly event, losing only to the Latvian Gabriela Nikitina (27,54 sec.).

Rūta Meilutytė was also registered to swim in the last competition, but she did not start.

With the best results, Silvija Statkevičius, who recently returned from Canada to Lithuania (200 m breaststroke - 2.04,19 min.), Kajus Stankevičius (200 m backstroke - 2.02,56 min.) and Beata Jakštaitė (100 m. back – 1.05,55 min.).

Tomorrow (Thursday) the qualifying swims will start at 10:17 and the finals will start at XNUMX:XNUMX.


The Lithuanian Swimming Federation reminds that the participants of the competition can not only fulfill the qualification norms for the World Aquatics World Swimming Championship, which will be held on July 23-30 in Fukuoka, Japan, but also for the Summer Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris next year.

After the Lithuanian championship, it should also become clear who will represent Lithuania at the European Youth Swimming Championship, the European Youth Olympic Festival and the first-ever European U23 Swimming Championship.
