The two-day Baltic Swimming Championship began in Riga, the capital of Latvia. In the 50 m long Kipsala swimming pool, Lithuanians compete with the hosts of the competition, Latvians and Estonians. A total of 17 sets of medals were awarded in the evening part of the competition on Friday, and our country's athletes climbed to the top of the winner's ladder ten times.
In the men's 100 m freestyle event, he became the champion of the Baltic countries Daniil Pancerev. The Lithuanian finished in 49,68 seconds, set a new personal record (previously 49,94 seconds) and confidently overtook the Latvian Kristaps Miķelsons (51,28 seconds).
She won the champion title in the women's 200 m freestyle Ieva Visockaitė (2.06,94 min.), which is only 0,05 sec. overtook the runner-up Stella Svenčionytė (2.06,99 min.). I.Visockaitė improved her career record (2.07,58 min.).
100 m breaststroke Kotryna Teterevkova Estonian Eneli Jefimova challenged. The young swimmer who won the qualification lost only 0,06 seconds to ours in the final. K. Teterevkova finished in 1 minute. 7,54 sec. and won the gold.
In the men's 100 m backstroke event, even two Lithuanians climbed onto the second step of the podium. Erik Grigaitis ir Kajus Stankevičius recorded an identical time (57,03 seconds), and only Latvian swimmer Ģirts Feldbergs (56,09 seconds) was faster than them in the final. K. Stankevičius surpassed his personal record (57,17 seconds).
The women's 200m backstroke final is over Patricia Geriksonaitė victory. The champion of the Baltic countries finished in 2 minutes. 18,75 sec. and overtook the silver winner Beata Jakštaitė (2.22,52 min.).
Ned Giedraitis was the fastest in the men's 200m butterfly event. He recorded 2 min. 7,03 sec. result and improved his personal record (2.08,36 min.). The second place was taken by another Lithuanian - Emil Atkočiūnas (2 min. 11,29 sec.).
She won a bronze medal in the women's 100 m butterfly final Radvilė Kerševičiūtė (1.04,02 min.). The winner was Estonian Alina Vedehhova (1.02,52 min.).
He became the champion in the men's 400 m freestyle after finishing with a new career record Dziugas Miškinis (4.02,56 min.). He beat runner-up Georg Filippov (4.07,93:XNUMX) of Estonia by a convincing margin.
She was the fastest in the women's 50m freestyle final Smiltė Plytnykaitė (25,57 seconds), successfully surpassing the previous personal record (25,80 seconds). The Lithuanian confidently overtook the representative of Latvia, Gabriela Ņikitina (26,37 seconds).
Lithuania added another gold medal in the 200 m individual medley final Daniil Pancerev (2.02,83 min.), and bronze - Adam Gatulis (2.07,95 sec.).
In the final of the 400 m medley, she became the vice-champion of the Baltic countries Vytė Gelazytė (5.13,41 sec.). Only Violanta Gurjanova (5.07,46 min.) from Estonia surpassed her.
Lithuanians added another gold medal in the women's 50m backstroke event Patricija Geriksonaitė (29,36 seconds), successfully beating the Estonian Mariangela Boitsuk (30,02 seconds).
The evening swimming of the championship was completed by the men's and women's team relays.
Lithuanian men's team in the 4 x 100 m medley final (Erik Grigaitis, Edwin Kilman, Ned Giedraitis ir Daniil Pancerev) recorded 3 min. 46,30 sec. the result. Lithuanians 0,60 sec. overtook the Latvian team, but lost to the Estonians who finished faster (3.45,81 min.).
Lithuanians were better in the 4 x 100 m freestyle relay. Smiltė Plytnykaitė, Patricija Kondraškaitė, Ieva Visockaitė ir Amelia Murėnaite finished the performance of the first day of the competition with a new Lithuanian women's record. From now on, it is 3 minutes. 48,93 sec. The previous national record before this competition was 3 minutes. 49,57 sec. and belonged to Smilta Plytnykaita, Marija Romanovska, Patricija Geriksonaita and Sylvia Statkevičius.
Mūsiškės left behind the teams of Estonia (3.54,71 min.) and Latvia (3.55,27 min.).
Lithuanians also performed solidly in the junior and youth age groups. On the first day, the Lithuanian junior team won seven gold, nine silver and four bronze medals, while our team won seven gold, four silver and six bronze medals in the youth age group.
