Beautiful almost one and a half hundred swimmers from more than 30 national and foreign veteran swimming teams competed for the awards.
In the individual events, medals were awarded to the top three men and women with the most points (regardless of age group).
Prize winners of the 2022 European Veterans Championship participated in the competition and performed successfully Alexander Zamorski, Vedest Scheffler, Sigitas Katkevičius, Eugene Rakitin, who also announced the end of her professional sports career last year Ugnė Mažutaitytė and other.
Perhaps the biggest ovation in the pool was received by the oldest participant of this competition - Zygmas Polinauskas ("Poseidon" of Vilnius). Every finish of the swimmer, who celebrated his 98th birthday in October, was accompanied by loud applause.
Z. Polinauskas won three distances in the championship - 50 m backstroke, 100 m and 50 m freestyle. In the last event, he also won the gold medal, as he scored the most - 43 - points among all 1044 participants in this event.
In the 50m pool, he currently holds a total of nearly two dozen veteran age group records, ranging from 80-84. categories.
There was no lack of record swimming in this championship either. During the two days of the competition, a total of 27 new records of Lithuanian veterans were improved and recorded.
Scored here the most times Edgar Štura (Vilnius "Poseidon"), who reached as many as four years 35-39. age group records. Among women, three breaststroke records for 30-34 years. in the age group, a girl from Kaunas updated Urtė Mankienė.

We would like to remind you that in the veteran competitions, in individual events, participants are divided into age categories according to the rules adopted by World Aquatics (25-29 years, 30-34 years, 35-39 years, 40-44 years, 45-49 years, 50-54, etc.). Athletes are assigned to the corresponding category according to their age on December 31 of the current year.
For improved Lithuanian veterans' record the participants were given commemorative badges, and each swimmer who took part in the championship received a participant's medal.
Special prizes were also waiting for the ten best swimmers of the championship (based on the sum of the three best personal start points).
Swimmers managed to collect the most points in the championship To Edgar Štura ("Poseidon" of Vilnius), to Eymants Milis (SM "Nemunas") and Sigit Katkevičius (Alytus "Dzūkija vandenys").
Also entered the top ten Vedest Scheffler, Eugene Rakitin, Aida Vilimienė, Alexander Zamorski, Irina Wyton (Latvija), Ilmar Rašytinis ir Played Gumby.
