One of the most famous Latvian tennis players of all time, Ernests Gulbis, who is currently in charge of the Latvian Tennis Federation, will visit Vilnius next week, where he will share his experience at the sports business conference "SportBiz Vilnius 2024".
E. Gulbis started playing tennis at the age of five, and as a teenager he attended the Nikola Pilić Tennis Academy in Munich, where he trained with Novak Djokovic, who later won the most Grand Slam tournament titles in history - 24.
in 2004 Latvian who started his career as a professional tennis player won six ATP 250 series tournaments and lost only once in the final match. in 2014 E. Gulbis reached the 10th place in the ATP world ranking and remains the only Latvian tennis player in the world's top ten.
E. Gulbis, known by the nicknames "Lord", "The Gull" or "Ernie" in tennis, is considered one of the most famous people in the history of Latvian sports. The 36-year-old athlete announced this year that he is ending his professional career and will devote all his attention to the position of president of the Latvian Tennis Federation, which he will hold from 2022.
At the sports business conference "SportBiz Vilnius 27" to be held on September 2024, the tennis player will participate in a panel discussion where he will share his thoughts about the Latvian sports market and the sports prospects of all Baltic countries.
Together with E. Gulbi, three other representatives of the sports market from Latvia will participate in the discussion: Edgars Buls, the head of the Riga "Zelli" basketball club, Maksims Krivunecs, the president of the Latvian Football League, and Karlis Lejnieks, who has been the general secretary of the Latvian Olympic Committee for the past four years.
The largest sports business conference in the Baltic States "SportBiz Vilnius 2024" will be held on September 27 in the capital's arena.
