A design fair that will delight not only the eyes, but also the ears. This is exactly how one could describe the most fun spring design and fashion fair "Uptown Market: Hello Spring" that will be held this weekend, May 5-6, at the Loftas Art Factory in Vilnius.
For the second time, the organizers of the fair aim to make Uptown Market interesting not only for those who are looking for purchases, but also for those who are curious about the fashion industry and even maybe planning or already developing their careers in it. Inspiring discussions and useful tips, which will be shared free of charge by experienced professionals in their fields on both days of the weekend, will not only help you not to get lost in false style trends, but will also reveal many insights relevant to both your personal and professional life.
The discussion program will begin on Saturday, at 14 p.m., with the presentation of the long-awaited second design publication "Created in Lithuania", which will take place at the fair. It will be presented to readers interested in design by Živilė Diawara, the author of the idea of the publication, and Marija Pulokaitė, the creative director. Spectators attending the presentation will be the first in Lithuania to receive a free publication. Later, it will be distributed in all major cities of Lithuania and foreign countries.
The presentation of "Created in Lithuania" will be accompanied by a discussion, the topic of which will be "Lithuanian design identity: sought or found?" The designer and branding expert Aidas Urbelis, who will moderate the discussion, will try to find out whether Lithuanian design has finally found its place in a geographical sense. Is local design heavily influenced by global trends, or is it able to remain distinctive through its uniqueness? Also, what are the distinguishing features of Lithuanian design and what values are represented by the new generation of Lithuanian design creators. Karolina Jakaitė, a design researcher, postdoctoral trainee at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, one of the founders of the "Design Fund", Victoria Dias, an expert in branding and product identity, as well as Ieva Zubavičiūtė, the founder of "Fashion Bloc" and Arnoldas, the founder of the virtual Lithuanian designer showroom "Bomberis", fashion manager, will take part in the discussion. Remeika and the initiator of Created in Lithuania, Živilė Diawara, founder of the art factory Loftas.
From 15 p.m. fair visitors will be invited to another discussion, which will examine whether the works of Lithuanian creators are attractive to fashion veterans? Recently, the success stories of the costume designers of the countries of the former socialist bloc are getting louder, so the eyes of the fashion world are watching the so-called New European fashion market more and more carefully and with great curiosity. What homework do our designers have to do to get their talent noticed in the old fashion capitals? A duo of presenters will talk about it - Ieva Zubavičiūtė, head of the London-based agency Fashion Bloc, which helps designers from our region establish themselves abroad, and the virtual showroom of Lithuanian designers www.bomberis.com founder, fashion manager Arnoldas Remeika.
On Saturday, from 16 p.m., brand expert Victoria Dias will talk about trends in fashion branding. In her presentation, she will reveal not only the principles of idea generation, but together with the listeners, she will look for solutions for their implementation to the best of their ability, but she will also talk about the challenges of creating her own brand and tips on how to become a successful creator of the fashion industry. V. Dias will emphasize the business side of fashion, but will reveal it through the prism of creativity.
Discussions will not last on Sunday either. On that day, from 14 p.m., representatives of the Stilius ir miestas stylist duo, Marija Sadomskaja and Dovilė Kavaliauskienė, will tell you how to shape your personal style using spring trends. In their seminar, they will reveal what every woman in the city should know about her wardrobe: from creating a wardrobe , seasonality to modern trends. During the interactive seminar, the listeners will not only hear useful tips, but will also see live how to put together warm season combinations and will get answers to all questions that arose during the fair.
On Sunday, from 15 p.m., fashion trend forecaster Marija Palaiktė will introduce sustainable fashion and raise the question, is it a trend or an inevitable future?
The largest and most stylish design and fashion fair in Vilnius "Uptown Market: Hello Spring" will be held this year on May 5-6, Saturday and Sunday, inside the Loftas art factory and on the outdoor terrace. Event free of charge.
