After a year's break, the "Vilnius best 2022" awards have returned. These awards are intended to mark exceptional, extramural and new events, companies, places and projects of the year. This year, city residents themselves will be able to submit their candidacies for nominations.
This year, awards will be given in 6 categories: "Debut of the Year 2022", "Best restaurant/café/bar 2022", "Vilnius of the Year 2022", "Best Project 2022", "Impression of the Year (event) 2022". The sixth nomination will be chosen by the editors of MadeinVilnius.lt.

Today, we present yet another nomination "Vilnius of the Year 2022". Last year's most deserving persons for Vilnius apply for it.
Kristina Sabaliauskaitė
Kristina Sabaliauskaitė is a well-known writer, journalist, and art critic in Lithuania. Her novel "Silva Rerum" was published in Polish and strongly contributed to the strengthening of friendship and cooperation between Vilnius and Warsaw. Polish literary critics call her historical novel a cultural connection between two nations.
The previous books of the saga, which became bestsellers, force the reader to look at relationships a little differently, to create stronger bonds of communion. Also, the writer's books contributed to more active promotion of Polish tourism in Lithuania.

Dalia Grybauskaite
The outgoing President Dalia Grybauskaitė needs no introduction. This year, it won the prestigious World Economy Award.
D. Grybauskaitė was nominated for her responsibility and foresight in the European Commission in solving the tasks of the European Union budget reform. Attention was also drawn to her leadership of the state - overcoming crises, leading the country to the euro zone, opposing Russia and increasing Lithuania's security and defense.

Ieva Plikusienė
Vilnius University Doc. who works at the Nanotechnologies and Materials Science Center of the Faculty of Chemistry and Geosciences "Nanotechnas". Dr. This year, I. Plikusienė received the prestigious International Emerging Talent Award. This prestigious award from the L'Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science program is awarded annually to 15 of the world's most promising female scientists whose research has the potential to change the world. I. Plikusienė was awarded for her breakthrough in the research of interactions between SARS-CoV-2 proteins and antibodies.
MadeinVilnius.lt nominates a Lithuanian scientist for awards for representing and popularizing Vilnius University and Lithuanian sciences on the world stage.

John Ohman
Jonas Ohmanas is a Swede who has been living in Lithuania for more than 15 years. The director, translator, book author, teacher founded the "Blue/Yellow" organization, which provides all kinds of assistance to Ukrainian soldiers and civilians. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the organization he founded has collected and sent to the war zone not only protective equipment and weapons necessary for soldiers, but also humanitarian aid for its civilian population. "Blue/Yellow" has been helping Ukraine since the occupation of Crimea in the spring of 2014.
