The factory is located in the Verkių landscape reserve, in the territory of the Verkių regional park, on the banks of the Riešės (Turniškės) stream, about 12 km north of the city center. It occupies an area of 13 hectares. in 1985 the factory had four paper-making machines, about 500 employees, who produced wrapping and other technical paper from imported semi-finished products (pulp and waste paper). From the old paper manufactory, which operated between 1836 and 1850, the Riešė dam, a complex of engineering canals about 250 m long, as well as the 1851-1854 brick buildings and chimneys were built.
It is assumed that the paper workshop was established here around 1690 and operated until the 1833th century. of the first decade, although it is found in the 1834th century. the produced paper with Verkių watermarks testifies that there could have been a paper workshop earlier. It belonged to Bishop Konstantin Kazimierz Bzhostovskis. In 1845, a new paper manufactory was built in this place, when the owner of the Verkių manor, Vilnius district marshal Stanislovas Jasinskis, leased a plot of land to the mayor of Vilnius, Pranas Juozaps Opics, and to the master of paper production, Vilhelms Langenbach, of German origin. The buildings were completed in 1847, the manufactory started operating two years later. Technical equipment included a boiler for boiling rags, two hollanders (periodic mills) and a press for pressing paper sheets. The manufactory was used for the needs of the manor, as the profit made helped to maintain the whole manor. Since 4300, the manufactory belonged to the merchant Friedrich von Auer. In 34, it produced 40 feet (about XNUMX tons) of writing paper and employed about XNUMX workers.

In 1850, the company was destroyed fire. In 1850 - 1852, the masonry buildings of the factory were rebuilt, hydrotechnical facilities were modernized. In 1854, a continuous paper production machine was installed, driven by an 8 hp engine. 1300th century in the second half, the factory belonged to merchants Schwartz. 1896th century at the end of the year, the factory became the largest and best-equipped paper production company in the western provinces of the Russian Empire, competing with the Kučkurishki paper manufactory. It produced 1909 tons of writing, technical and smoking paper per year. In 1911, a new, more powerful boiler house was built, the chimney of which has survived to this day. In 1912 - 1914, electric lighting was installed, and a wood pulp workshop was built. Wood began to be used for paper production. In 4200, the factory was again destroyed by fire. In XNUMX, it was rebuilt and reconstructed and started producing XNUMX tons of paper per year. During the First World War, part of the equipment was taken away.
In 1920-1925, the factory produced only wood pulp. In 1925, they started producing paper again. Due to the economic crisis and other reasons, the factory did not work in 1926 and 1929-1941. It was destroyed during the Second World War and started to function again in 1946. in the spring In 1984, part of the old buildings was restored. In the ninth of the 1993th century In the 2003s, the factory worked as part of the Grigiškii unification and was constantly modernized. After Lithuania regained its independence, during the years of the blockade, the factory started producing paper for periodicals. in 2009 the factory was privatized, the company "Naujieji Verkiai" was founded, which began to produce paper for various purposes: wrapping, offering, medical, hygiene supplies. in XNUMX the company was again connected to the joint-stock company Grigiškės. Since XNUMX the branch of this company, Naujjės Verkių fabrikas, no longer operates and is a cultural heritage object protected by the state.
