After the completion of the work on the city's western perimeter, the next important infrastructure development work that awaits the city authorities is the construction of Šiaurinė Street. It seems that the city authorities are not sleeping and are taking on another important project for the city - the project proposals for the first phase of this street have been submitted. The first phase would start from the western area and end at Ukmergė Street.
The importance of the North Street will be particularly pronounced when the latter is connected to the Western Bypass, as a large flow of vehicles would be transferred from the densely populated streets of the city, thus diverting a large flow of traffic away from the city center. If Šiaurinė street was not built, the efficiency of Western high-speed street would be incomparably lower and would have little impact on the desired redistribution of city traffic flows (the load of the Western bypass in the northern part would be average and thus would not contribute to reducing the load on Ukmergė street).
Based on the solutions presented in the Šiaurinė street detailed plan, a 6 (3+3) lane B1 street is being designed from the Western bypass to the connection with Fabijoniškių st. Sidewalks and bike paths are planned on both sides of the street (2x2m). Side lanes would be reserved for public transport traffic and right turns. The XNUMXst stage would cross high intensity streets - Justiniškiu, Laisvės prospekt and Ukmergės street. Below is the track for the first leg:
– Western bypass section – Justiniškių st. Connections to Pušalotos and Grigalaukis streets with right turns are being designed, the pedestrian-cyclist crossing at Pušalotos street and the parking lot in the area of the multi-storey garages next to the street are regulated by traffic lights.
The intersection of Šiaurinė Street and Justiniškių Street, controlled by one-level traffic lights, is being designed.
– Section of Justiniškių st. - Freedom Ave. A connection with Žemynas street is being designed, a traffic light-regulated pedestrian-cyclist crossing at Žemynas street, a traffic light-regulated connection with Laisvės pr. and parking lots to the plots adjacent to the street according to the solutions of the detailed plan.
Šiaurinė gatvė and Laisvės pr. are being designed. a two-level intersection with an overpass and slipways.
– Section Laisvės pr. - Ukmergė st. Connections to Čiobiškis and Baltrušaitis streets with right turns are being designed, the pedestrian-cyclist crossing at Čiobiškis street is regulated by traffic lights.
Šiaurinė Street and Ukmergė Street are being designed. a two-level intersection and an overpass with slips.
A connection with Fabijoniškių street regulated by traffic lights is being designed.
- It would be built underground pedestrian crossing at Ukmergė st. 240.
- Fabijoniškių street is being reconstructed. section (within the red lines, given in the drawing) between the connection with Šiaurine st. and S.Stanevičiaus St., by installing a traffic light-regulated intersection.
You can familiarize yourself with the project proposals from today at the city municipality, Konstitucijos Ave. 3. We will remind you that earlier it was planned that the 2020st stage of Šiaurinė Street should be completed by XNUMX with partial financing from European Union funds.
