With tensions rising in the Middle East, Lithuanian airports states that the flight from Vilnius to Tel Aviv in Israel, which was scheduled to take place next Saturday, has been canceled.
"The nearest flight from Vilnius to Tel Aviv and from Tel Aviv to Vilnius was scheduled to take place tomorrow, this flight was operated by the airline "Wizz Air"has already been canceled. We have not yet received information about the cancellation of other flights," the comment, transmitted to BNS, states.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) urges Lithuanian citizens to refrain from any travel to Israel and to immediately leave Iran.
The ministry urges those in Israel, Iran, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine and other countries in the Middle East to be extremely vigilant, follow the news and statements from Lithuanian diplomatic missions, and follow local authorities' instructions regarding security.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also invites Lithuanian citizens in Israel to register in the mobile application "Travel Safely" by selecting the link "Emergency Situation" or on the website. It is recommended to provide contact details and as much information as possible describing the situation.
As BNS reported, Israel struck Iranian nuclear and military facilities before dawn on Friday, and promises to continue military action.
Strikes were carried out in several areas of Iran, with explosions reported in the capital Tehran and at a key uranium enrichment facility.
Israel has declared a heightened state of alert, with airspace closed, flights suspended, city shelters opened, and citizens asked to stay closer to shelters and constantly monitor further reports from civil defense services. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this situation may continue for an extended period of time.
