The flight from Vilnius to London City will be supported for the first time in Europe - it took Lithuania two years to convince the European Commission to allow the application of the support mechanism, as the EU is skeptical of state support for flights.
Economy and Innovation Minister Virginijus Sinkevičius said on Tuesday that this will be another opportunity for Lithuania to invite companies from London in the context of Brexit, and Transport Minister Rokas Masiulis said that Lithuanian businessmen have been asking for this flight for a long time.

According to V. Sinkevičius, the flight will fully pay off for the state if it is filled to at least 92 percent.
Now, only low-cost airlines fly to London from Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga - Hungarian "Wizz Air" and Irish "Ryanair".
