Air pollution about 5,5 million people worldwide die in cities every year. Transport accounts for 70 percent. pollution in the city.
European countries are rapidly solving this problem by implementing a network of electric cars and their charging stations, creating tax incentives for companies and residents driving electric cars.
Lithuania is far behind the EU average. in 2016 in December, 350 electric cars were registered in Lithuania and 45 charging stations were operating.
Number of electric cars in 2016 December in Lithuania and other countries:
Lithuania - 350
Spain - 8.450
Sweden - 30.540
Germany - 74.754
United Kingdom - 91.627
France - 108.065
Netherlands - 113.636
Norway - 135.276
Number of public stops: 45 in Lithuania, 26.700 in the Netherlands, most from EU countries.
For Lithuania, in order to catch up with the average of the listed countries, at the end of 2016, 706 charging stations had to be operating and 14.720 electric cars on the roads! 12.940 tons less fuel would be burned per year and 10.300 tons of CO2 pollution would be reduced.
Such figures and facts were presented by Laurynas Jokužis, chairman of the board of the Lithuanian Electric Vehicle Association.
What can motivate people to choose electric cars? Permission to drive A band, free parking in the city, special numbers like EV series, for example EV1234, this small number of privileges, as the facts show, did not have the necessary influence on car choices.
"State policy needs to be changed - the lower the CO2 pollution, the higher the subsidy, while diesel cars, which pollute the air the most, are taxed more," suggests L. Jokužis, who has been driving an electric car himself for seven years.
The young generation needs to be educated from an early age so that they take into account environmental friendliness, pollution, and nature conservation when choosing a vehicle. Also, there will still be myths in the society that electric cars do not develop high speed, their batteries discharge quickly, they are not enough to drive long distances, they are not suitable for the Lithuanian climate, etc.
L. Jokužis, the Chairman of the Board of the Lithuanian Electric Car Association, was convinced of this during the presentation of Lithuanian electric cars to Kaunas schoolchildren, when he had to disprove all the myths.
The presentation of electric cars and their possibilities, modern technologies and innovations to Kaunas schoolchildren was one part of the educational tour of Lithuanian schools "For future inventors - the most attractive career of a scientist".
It was a surprise to most of the students that an electric car can fully meet the expectations of even sports car lovers, that the traction of an electric car always remains as good, no matter what the developed speed.
The head of the association L. Jokužis presented the history of electric cars, their technical development, perspectives, told how modern scientific inventions protect the world, drew attention to the main advantage of electric cars - environmental friendliness and zero pollution.
