The company that oversees state roads, "Keliau bereža", should sprinkle the roads more often in the cold season - due to the updated requirements, the response will not be to the slippery surface, but to its forecast, says the representative of the company.
The representative of the company's road maintenance and construction department, Karolis Sakalauskas, says that salt mixture spreaders and special solution sprayers will respond to the forecast of the road condition information system about the slippery surface.
"We will react more often with the help of our road condition information system, with its help we will have to carry out preventive spraying, this rule is included in our new requirements (...) If the system indicates that the surface is freezing, we undertake preventive work. In the past, we carried out prevention when we already clearly understood that it would form. We will go more often," on Wednesday Beautiful K. Sakalauskas told journalists.
According to him, the prevention of slippery surfaces will be helped by new spreaders, of which more than 20 "Road maintenance" has purchased this year.
"The new technique allows us to spread the salt more precisely, and it is very important when we carry out preventive work, the new equipment allows us to spread the grammage (mass of one square meter in grams - BNS) of salt on the pavement very precisely," said K. Sakalauskas.
Rimantas Zagrebajevas, head of the company's communication department, says that 110 were used last year. tons of salt, and this year it may be used more due to updated road maintenance requirements.
"This year, a third more will be needed because the requirements have been updated and additional prevention will be applied," said R. Zagrebajev.
The company will continue to use the salt purchased in Morocco, which is effective and cleaner than the previously used Belarusian salt, says the representative of Road Maintenance.
"Salt was purchased from Morocco, that salt actually works, we conducted tests and our experts found that Moroccan salt, compared to the Belarusian salt before it, is even cleaner (...) The salt works, it is tested, it is fully imported to Lithuania , the price difference is under control, because our company has contracts for several years ahead, we do not feel the increase this year", said R. Zagrebajevas.
According to him, the company is fully prepared for this winter season.
"Today, all 50 road maintenance units are ready to go out on the roads, that's what we're doing, about 70 mechanisms have already done their work tonight (...) Salt warehouses throughout Lithuania are completely filled," said R. Zagrebajevas.
Road maintenance standards are set by the Lithuanian Road Directorate, which this year tightened preventive work on main roads.
"Road maintenance" supervises 21,5 thousand roads in the country. kilometers of state roads.
