Vilnius at night becomes accessible to everyone – from April 25, nine new night bus routes will start operating in Vilnius. They will connect the city center with different districts and will allow you to comfortably reach home after late events, night work shifts or trips. Buses will run at night from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday – every 30 minutes from midnight, the last trips from the center to the microdistricts will take place at 4 a.m. In addition, taking into account the fact that the city center is becoming an increasingly active attraction at night, the names of three stops are being updated and one additional stop is being installed.
"Vilnius is a lively city – it doesn't sleep at night. It is important to me that nightlife is not only lively, but also safe and accessible to everyone. Public transport must operate smoothly not only during the day, but also when the city is still bustling with culture, when events are taking place." events "or people returning from work. Night routes are another step towards creating a city where everyone can live comfortably, at any time of the day," says Valdas Benkunskas, the mayor of the city of Vilnius.
A night transfer hub is being formed at the intersection of Pamėnkalnio, Jogailos and Pylimo streets. Here, all night routes are coordinated so that passengers can conveniently transfer between all 9 routes - without waiting longer than 9 minutes.
"Night routes are an important step in improving public transport quality. They ensure that residents can return home safely and comfortably after late events, work shifts or night flights. This is especially relevant for those for whom ride services at night become too expensive an option. Such a solution not only contributes to greater accessibility of public transport, but also encourages more sustainable and economical travel habits,” says Loreta Levulytė-Staškevičienė, head of JUDU.

Stops are given new names
The names of the Centro poliklinikai, Jogailas and Islandijas stops are being updated – all three are being given new names based on the nearby, well-known Islandijas street, which is an important center of attraction at night. The Jogailas stop will now be divided into two – we will recognize them separately as Islandijas st. (A) and Islandijas st. (B). The current Islandijas stop will become Islandijas st. (C), and the Centro poliklinikai stop is changing its name to Islandijas st. (D). This will help both Vilnius residents and city guests to better navigate, especially when moving around this busy part of the city.
This reorganization of stops will allow passengers to navigate the hub more clearly and ensure smoother transfers between routes – a minimum transfer time of 7 minutes will be provided. A small transfer point will also operate at the Deivių stop in Pašilaičiai (near Gabija Progymnasium), convenient for passengers who want to travel between districts without going through the center.
In order to ensure wider coverage of districts and more convenient accessibility of routes, new stops for night routes are being installed in the city. Among them is the Vėtrungiai stop in the direction of Pašilaičiai, located next to the shopping center "LIDL" (Vėtrungių g. 14), Jonas Galvydžius stop in the direction of Kareivių street, located near the shopping district "Ogmias miestas" (Verkių g. 27A) and Islandijos (B) stop towards Vincas Kudirkos square, even closer to Islandijos street (Jogailos g. 16).
Please note that such changes to the names of stops will also take effect for existing routes from April 25. We would like to remind you of the stops with updated names that regular routes will stop at:
- "Islandijos st. (A)" – buses of routes 11, 53 and trolleybuses of routes 2, 3, 6, 12, 20;
- “Icelandic St. (B)” – daytime routes will not be serviced;
- "Islandijos st. (C)" – bus route 11 and trolleybus routes 1, 3, 7;
- "Islandijos st. (D)" – buses 1G, 21, 53, 88, 88N and trolleybuses 1, 2, 6, 7, 12, 20.
By April 25, not only will timetable information at stops be updated, but "cubes" will also be installed, marking the letters of the stops. This practice is already in place At the station, this will help passengers transition to the changes as smoothly as possible.
