Vilnius city municipality already this month will organize social project tenders that will help increase the availability of transport services for Vilnius residents with mobility difficulties.
Currently, transportation services for the disabled are provided in Vilnius by the Center for Social Services, the Order of Malta Help Desk, the Association of Persons with Spinal Injuries and several other smaller institutions. However, the need for a shuttle service is greater than the scope and variety of services currently provided, so the municipality has prepared a new project that will expand transport services.
Who is eligible for transportation services?
Vilnius city municipalities residents who have declared their place of residence in Vilnius city municipality, or include in the accounting of persons who have not declared their place of residence. The service is provided according to the needs of persons who, due to disability, illness or old age, have mobility problems and cannot use public or individual transport because of this or because of insufficient income.
After the social worker assesses the need for one-time transport services, a contract for the provision of transport services is signed with the person.
Who can apply?
The person himself (one of the adult family members or his guardian, carer) or persons acting in the interests of the social security of the person (family) or society, members of the community or other interested persons.
How can I submit documents?
Choose one of the following options:
- apply directly to social workers, according to the place of residence in your ward;
- send by email, [email protected];
- send by mail to the address Janusio 13-osios g. 10, LT-04347, Vilnius;
- submit in the Social Support for the Family information system (www.spis.lt);
- to be delivered upon arrival at the customer service center (KAC), at the address Konstitucijos pr. 3, Vilnius (first floor, fourth box).
Disabled people going to cultural events and other places can use the services of personal assistants.
Personal assistance - individual assistance of a personal assistant to the disabled to perform tasks and participate in activities that, due to the disability, they would not be able to perform independently in various areas of life.
Personal assistant services are provided to Vilnius residents with disabilities who are identified as needing this assistance, regardless of age, severity or nature of the disability. The following services are given priority:
- for those studying according to formal education programs;
- those working or looking for work, using employment assistance services provided by the Employment Service under the Ministry of Social Security and Labor of the Republic of Lithuania or other organizations;
- for those living alone.
