As All Saints' Day and All Hallows' Eve approaches, car traffic near the capital's cemeteries increases sharply, which is why traffic restrictions are in place from the weekend. Residents will be able to reach the cemetery more conveniently by public transport - it will run more often and stop at additional stops.
Public order at the approaches to the cemetery will be monitored and both municipal and police officers will take care of traffic regulation. Road users should be careful and follow the rules of the road and the instructions of traffic regulators.
Traffic at many cemeteries will be in a roundabout
Until Tuesday (November 2), traffic at the approaches to the Rokantiškii, Karveliškii, Kairėnai and Saltoniškii cemeteries will be diverted via detour routes:
- Traffic to the Rokantiškii cemetery from Steponas Bator st. will be directed through the district of New Vilnius, along A. Kojelavičius, Sioriė, Uosii, Kalno and Rokantiškiu streets. Cars will be able to be parked in parking lots and roadsides, where they do not obstruct traffic and there are no road signs prohibiting parking.
- Transport traffic to the Kairėnai cemetery from the side of Nemenčinės highway from Kairėnai street will be directed by a detour on Šilėnai street, and from Plytinės street towards the cemetery, one-way traffic will be established.
- Those traveling to the Karveliškiu cemetery through the Pilaitė district with their own transport will be able to access the cemetery via the surrounding road, located 1 km from the main entrance. It is recommended to enter the Karveliški cemetery from Vilnius district The sides of the ward will be divided. It is more convenient to reach this cemetery by public transport, by leaving your car at the "Park and Ride" parking lot in Žvēryne (62 Sēlių str.).
- November 1 Traffic will be prohibited on Đžuolyna street, at the Saltoniškių cemetery, with the exception of public transport, traffic.
We remind you that until November 2 it is forbidden for cars to stop and park at the approaches to the Rokantiškii, Karveliškii, Kairenai and Saltoniskii cemeteries, near bus stops, roundabouts and the entrance gates of the cemeteries. Signs prohibiting parking at the entrances to the Liepňa cemetery are valid all year round.
It will be more convenient to reach the cemetery by public transport
Public transport will run more frequently on some routes. From Saturday to Tuesday, between 9 and 19 hours, 88 route buses will additionally visit the Liepynės cemetery.
November 1-2 due to heavy traffic at the approaches to the Rokantiškii cemetery, the route of bus route 115 in the direction of New Vilnius and the route of bus route 119 in the direction of Egliskii will change:
- Route 115 buses, traveling in the direction of New Vilnius, will go to the stop Rokantiškės, where they will turn around and continue the detour - along Viršupis, Milda and S. Bator streets to S. Bator–Dūmų st. intersections, then the usual route to the New Vilnius Ring. When traveling along the changed route in the direction of New Vilnius, buses will stop at Klonis, Rokantiškii sodai, Žilvičiai, Uosii sodi, Duburis, Kalnos, Parparčiai, Uosii, Albert Kojelavičiaus and Dūmi stops. On the changed route to New Vilnius, buses will additionally stop at Lyglaukiai, Šilo, Viršupis, Milda, Pūčkiori atodanga, Pūčkiori, Steponas Batoras and Leliju stops. The bus route of route 115 in the direction of Antakalnis will not change and the buses will run on the usual route.
- The bus route of route 119 towards the Northern town will not change, but buses traveling from the Northern town in the direction of Egliskii, from Šilo st. roundabouts will turn towards S. Batora st., then go to A. Kojelavičiaus st., then go to Suarių st. and Uosiu st. and continue on its usual course. Driving along the changed route, the bus will stop at additional stops - Šilo, Viršupis, Mildos, Viadukas, Girininkija, Kuchkuriskės, Širšiaus, A. Kojelavičiaus, Uosiuia, Paparčiaus, Kalno. However, buses traveling in the direction of Egliskii will not stop at the following stops - Šilo, Lyglaukiai, Rokantiškės, Klonio, Rokantiškių sodi, Žilvičių, Uosiių sodi, Duburis.
