Recently, JSC "Communication services” (hereinafter: “JUDU”) shared the results of the survey, which showed that Vilnius residents rate Vilnius public transport very well. This is not the first year when the company's surveys show passenger satisfaction with public transport. However, not everyone agrees with the results.
"Did regulars participate in the survey?" public transport passengers who have to travel on overcrowded buses? Buses are constantly late, one can only dream about comfortable transfers", writes portal reader Juozas.
According to him, public transport becomes a separate topic for discussion in the summer. Although there are fewer passengers during the holidays, buses and trolleybuses are still full during peak hours. This also happens due to the fact that public transport runs less frequently on city streets in the summer.
"The results of the survey show that the people of Vilnius value the speed, transfers and schedules of public transport well. Let's start with speed. There are places in Vilnius where buses go 50 km/h. at a speed when normally the maximum permitted speed is 70 km/h. I'll stop talking about trolleybuses, which are able to create a traffic jam for other road users on a level ground. I am silent about transfer options. Have you ever tried to drive from Panorama to Acropolis? Or from "Old People" Ukmergė st. to Oz? By car, you can drive from the mentioned points in 7-10 minutes. What about public transport? Is there a convenient transfer when driving 3G to Šeškina kalva? Is there a convenient infrastructure for going from one stop to another? Is it normal to have to transfer to travel such a short distance?" - Juozas teaches in the letter.
Schedules also got stuck. According to the reader, express buses run every few minutes in other European countries. Sometimes you have to wait 15 minutes for express buses in Vilnius. Well, if the bus is not an express bus, it also happens that some route can run only 1-2 times an hour. The citizen of Vilnius was also indignant that there has been no night transport in the city for several years. It is true that the municipality returned it, but only on two routes and only on weekends.
The reader does not understand who participated in the survey and how it was conducted.
"Maybe it was the car drivers?" - mocks the man from Vilnius.
According to him, the survey should be conducted directly on the "JUDU" website or by collecting the questionnaires itself in public transport. That's the only way to be 100 percent. sure that the questions were answered by public transport passengers and not by random people who travel by bus once a year.
The last thing that the citizen of Vilnius complained about was the air conditioners in public transport, which either do not work, are turned off, or are not present. According to him, traveling by public transport this summer is tantamount to martyrdom. It's hot, it's stuffy and you can't breathe - that's what traveling on public transport often feels like.
We remind you that JUDU recently published the results of a survey of passengers' satisfaction with public transport. You can get to know them here.
