The passenger transport companies "Kautra" and "Tolimojo keilinnoi transporto kompaniya" (Toks) are resuming more intercity flights this week.
"Starting this week, we resume going to new cities - Skuoda, Plunge, Naujaja Akmenė, Lazdijus. The Vilnius-Anykščiai route will also be updated," says Linas Skardžiukas, director of Kautra, in a statement.
The company now transports passengers in 35 buses, compared to the usual 100-110 buses.
"There is still a long way to go before profitable work. For now, we can talk about 30-40 percent. the income that existed before the quarantine", said L. Skardziuks.
At that time, "Toks" plans to renew six more routes from Vilnius to Kybartis, Tauragė, Skuoda, Mažeikis, Birži and increases the number of them to Kaunas by two more, company manager Arūnas Indrašius told BNS.
According to him, "Toks" will carry passengers on 11 routes from Friday, which will make up about 20 percent. normal company routes.
"We took the same main directions as in the first stage, so now in the second stage we took into account that there would be more stops. The routes are chosen with the largest number of stops so that as many people as possible can use that service," A. Indrašius told BNS.
According to the manager of "Toks", the possibility of resuming even more routes will be considered next week, despite the fact that the activity during the quarantine is unprofitable.
"The carts aren't profitable yet, sure, but people need to know that those routes are coming back and start riding." There is still a long way to go to talk about profits, but we have to make the drive, as we gradually stopped all routes, so now the drive must take place", said A. Indrašius.
As quarantine conditions eased in Lithuania, "Toks" and "Kautra" renewed some routes at the end of April.
Quarantine announced in the country on March 16 and currently extended until May 31.
