This week, the Directorate of Motor Roads of Lithuania announced the second 24,4 mln. the tender for the reconstruction of the main road Vilnius-Utena with a maximum value of EUR. The first approximately 20 million The winner of the tender should be announced soon.
The head of the Road Directorate, Vitalijs Andrejevs, confirmed that the contractor will have to design and build overpasses at the 16th kilometer of the road, where the four-lane road ends, and at the 21st kilometer intersection to Nemenčina.
"The contract must be signed by March 15. There is a longer implementation period because the project needs to be prepared. We will know the exact date of completion of the works when the contract is signed," V. Andrejev told BNS.
Companies must submit proposals by December 17.
V. Andrejevas reported that the winner of the first tender should be announced soon, and the contract with him is planned to be signed at the beginning of December. The contractor for approximately 20 million euros will be used to reconstruct the road surface from the 16th to the 21st kilometer of the road.
"During the first competition, which we terminated, we received about 22 million. EUR offer, and now - about 20 million. euros. During those two months, we saved the state 2 million. euros", said the head of the Road Directorate.
"Since this (reconstruction - BNS) is planned for next year, we are completely satisfied and we do not see any urgency," added V. Andrejevs.
The Road Directorate terminated the tender for the contractor of this stretch in July due to excessive prices. Then, taking into account the recommendations of the Public Procurement Service, it was decided to separately announce tenders for the reconstruction of sections and a pair of two-level intersections and two viaducts.
The Directorate, which previously intended to repair the entire road through a public-private partnership (PPP), abandoned this idea last year and will finance the project from the Road Maintenance and Development Program (KPPP).
The maintenance of the road built in 1985, the surface of which is made of cement concrete, is constantly becoming more expensive, because it is cracked, new cracks develop, and the seams are deformed.
