"The convenient arrival and departure of pedestrians, cyclists and drivers from the future multifunctional complex is one of our most important aspirations. We paid a lot of attention to the search for optimal solutions, we consulted with experts and specialists of the Vilnius City Municipality. The most important goal of future infrastructure changes is to ensure convenient access to the future quarter by all modes of transport and to increase the capacity of the streets and intersections near it," says Akropolis Group director Manfredas Dargužis.
The design proposals were prepared by the company "INHUS Engineering", the proposed solutions were selected taking into account the recommendations of the Vilnius City Municipality, the wider context of the surrounding districts and the continuity of the solutions in the common infrastructure network of the city. The plan is Gerosios Vilties st. to install a roundabout at the beginning, after Geležinio Vilko st. – an underground passage for pedestrians and cyclists and an underground entrance to the parking lot of the complex, it is also planned to reconstruct a part of Eiguliau st. and fix a part of MK Čiurlionio str. access. All works will be carried out at the expense of the company managed by Akropolis Group.
Roundabouts for the convenience of all road users
Basically, during the reconstruction of Geležinio Vilkos St. and Gerosios Vilties st. the infrastructure of the intersection, it is planned to install a roundabout at Gerosios Vilties st. at Geležinio Vilko St., the underground entrance for passenger cars to the underground parking lot of the multifunctional complex and the underground pedestrian and bicycle crossing under Geležinio Vilko St. After the implementation of these solutions, the intersection will become a continuous traffic, which should increase traffic capacity and ensure safe and convenient communication for all road users. Gerosios Vilties st. there will be not only a roundabout, but also an additional left turn lane to Savanorių avenue.
Keisis and the traffic organization of the Savanorių roundabout in the part from Geležinio Vilko st. to Tukstantmečio st. There are currently two lanes at the entrance to this roundabout: the right lane for going straight or right, and the left lane for going in other directions. Project proposals provide that an additional traffic lane will appear at the roundabout, for turning only to the right. Gelezinio Vilko st. it is also planned to install an additional traffic lane in the section from MK Čiurlionio str. towards the Volunteer roundabout.
The solutions of the Eigulių street infrastructure project proposals include the existing section of Eigulių street between Tūkstantmečio st., Geležinio Vilko st. and Volunteer Ave. reconstruction of the roundabout. It is planned to install a roundabout here, on Eigulių st. reorganize by installing an additional traffic lane from the side of the Neris River towards the multifunctional complex, a bicycle path, as well as convenient sidewalks and crossings for pedestrians.
New greenery is next to old trees
While maintaining and updating the transportation infrastructure, the project proposals also provide for the reconstruction of street lighting, the installation of more than 2,5 km of new pedestrian and bicycle paths, and green areas. Particular attention is paid to both the preservation of existing trees and the planting of new plantations. It is planned to save as many mature trees as possible in the area.
It is planned that 491 new trees will be planted in the surrounding streets and territories while improving the infrastructure, and almost 9 trees will be installed. sq. m of shrub areas, over 10 thousand. sq. m of sustainably mowed meadows, 941 sq. m of herbaceous plant areas and 389 sq. m of urine.
All infrastructure projects will be implemented at the expense of the developer, in accordance with the contracts concluded with the municipality. According to the current legal acts, a permit for the operation of a multifunctional complex (an act of structural recognition as suitable for use) can be issued only after the developer has fully completed the implementation of the infrastructure improvement projects.
It is expected that the multi-functional complex "Akropolis Vingis", which will be built in the former industrial area, will have trade and service spaces, a concert hall with 2500 seats or up to 4000 standing places, conference and cinema centers, office and apartment spaces for long-term residential rental, a large food hall and recreation. space.
Two-story basement of the complex parking lot will accommodate about 3500 cars, another 1000 cars will be able to be parked in the two-story parking lot near the commercial premises and at the entrances to the complex. In the territory of the "Akropolis Vingis" block itself, priority will be given to the movement of pedestrians and cyclists - it is planned to install new bicycle and pedestrian paths for them.
