In Vilnius, On Holland Street A new traffic light has been installed on Krivių Street for pedestrian safety. In this location, where heavy traffic flows in both directions, and the street stretches over hilly terrain and has four lanes, the new traffic light-controlled pedestrian crossing will ensure safer crossing of the street for both daily commuters and people with visual impairments.
According to the mobility organization JUDU, the crossing has modern pedestrian buttons and acoustic devices that help the visually impaired and blind navigate. With the help of the RTB LOC.id mobile app, an audible signal is automatically activated when approaching the crossing, making it easier to find the button and cross the street safely.
In addition, the pedestrian crossing will be monitored by a video camera - this will help analyze traffic flows, identify potential dangers, and further improve safety solutions at this traffic point.
"We make sure that moving around the city is comfortable and safe for everyone," JUDU representatives announce.
The new infrastructure is another step towards creating a universally accessible city, where the needs of all road users are taken equally seriously.
