Vilnius city municipality informs about important changes in traffic organization in the city center. Due to the reconstruction of heat supply networks, from April 23 to June 27, vehicle traffic will be prohibited on the section of Žvejų Street between the Žaliojo bridge and the building at A. Juozapavičiaus St. 9A.
"During the reconstruction of worn-out heat supply networks located under Žvejų Street, the movement of cars will have to be restricted in this section," the municipality said in a statement.
During the temporary restrictions, the intersection of Upės–Kalvarijų–Žvejų streets will also see changes. According to the municipality, the second lane of Upės street, which usually leads straight to Žvejų street, will be designated for left turns – to Kalvarijų street.
This means that drivers accustomed to using this direction will have to look for alternative routes or spend more time traveling through the city center.

It is recommended to follow road signs and plan routes in advance.
The municipality asks city residents and guests to be careful:
- Follow temporary road signs in the work area;
- Plan trips in advance, especially during peak times;
- Take into account possible public transport route changes or delays.
Reconstruction of heating networks is a necessary part of infrastructure renewal in order to ensure more efficient and reliable heat supply in the future. Although traffic restrictions may cause inconvenience, these are temporary changes designed to allow the city to regenerate.
