One of the busiest arteries of Vilnius Old Town – Islandijos Street – will soon change. From May 19, major renovation works will begin here, aimed at improving traffic safety, pedestrian comfort and aesthetic appearance. This was announced by the Vilnius City Infrastructure Maintenance Company.Beam".
The entire road surface will be resurfaced, sidewalks will be repaired, and road shoulders will be replaced. The work will be carried out in phases to maintain the smoothest possible traffic flow throughout the project.
Planned changes in traffic organization:
- Pedestrian traffic will be directed to a safe side, not occupied by work.
- The bike path will be temporarily closed during the renovation period.
"For the convenience of city residents, guests, and drivers, one of the busiest streets in the Old Town will soon be reopened. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience - thank you for creating a more convenient city together!", reads the Grinda statement.
All work is planned to be completed by July. Until then, Vilnius residents will have to be patient, but the renovated Islandijos Street promises to become an even more attractive part of the city for both residents and guests.
