The police will conduct an unusual raid: they will monitor whether these road users are following traffic rules

On May 13–14, a preventive measure "Ride safely and responsibly!" will be held in Vilnius County, during which officers of the Vilnius County Chief Police Commissariat will monitor whether persons riding bicycles and electric micromobility vehicles comply with the Road Traffic Rules.

Attention will be paid to the busiest areas - near schools, in parks, on bike paths and other areas of intense traffic. Officers will communicate with road users of all ages, remind them of the consequences of irresponsible behavior, and thank those responsible for setting a good example.

Not only nature awakens in spring, but also electric scooter drivers who have longed for sustainable trips around Vilnius - one after another are already rolling along the streets, roadsides and bicycle paths of the capital. So on May 13, from 15.00:18.00 p.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m., at White bridge, Upės Street in Vilnius, will host an exclusive part of this initiative, implemented together with social partners – JUDU (SĮ „Communication services") representatives.

During this event, officers, together with JUDU experts, will share useful information about safe cycling and scooter riding, answer all your questions about sustainable mobility, and remind you of the most important rules: where to ride, when a helmet is required, and how to behave responsibly. In addition, road users who behave in an exemplary manner will receive pleasant surprises - JUDU representatives will present small gifts, encouraging safe and responsible behavior on the road and on bicycle paths.

Mindaugas Baršys, Chief of the Vilnius County Chief Police Commissariat, emphasizes: It is important to remind all road users that safety starts with responsibility. Wearing a helmet, turning on your lights, or respecting pedestrians is not only about following the rules, but also about caring for life. Police pays special attention to the safety of cyclists and electric scooter drivers – carries out preventive campaigns, organizes educational initiatives, constantly reminds about the importance of responsible behavior on the road and encourages all road users to move responsibly. "

When moving around the city by bicycle, electric scooter, any other means of micromobility, or simply on foot - the most important thing is respect for each other and responsibility for your behavior. "City safety starts with each of us: only by following the rules, being vigilant and understanding, can we together ensure that Vilnius is safe for all road users. Caution and respect for others when traveling in the city is not a choice, but a necessity”, says Jonas Damidavičius, Head of Mobility Transformation at JUDU.

Do you ride a bike or an electric scooter? Ride safely and responsibly. Micromobility is the future, but safety is a necessity. A bike, a scooter, a roller skate – all of these means can be safe when the road user is visible, responsible and wears a helmet. Remember: Put on a helmet, turn on the lights, wear a brightly colored vest, be visible in the dark, respect other road users. Together we can make the city safer for everyone, - remind representatives of the police and JUDU.
