Vilnius city municipality signed a contract with UAB "KRS" for the reconstruction of Jonas Basanavičiaus Street. This summer, work will begin on a section of about 350 meters between Mindaugo and Pylimo streets.
"We are starting the renovation of another important city street - this summer, reconstruction will begin on Basanavičiaus Street, which will improve connectivity and environmental quality," says the Mayor of Vilnius City Valdas Benkunskas.
During the reconstruction, a new stormwater network will be installed, new road and sidewalk surfaces will be laid, and lighting networks will be updated. The road will be paved with black hewn basalt blocks, and the sidewalks will be paved with gray granite tiles. Six parking spaces will also be installed in this section.
The work is expected to begin in the summer of 2025, and be completed in the fall of 2026.
