Vilnius Municipality informs about plans to reconstruct sections of Ragučio, Balsių and Bubilo streets in Balsiai. The design proposals indicate that a bicycle path with a red asphalt surface would be installed on these streets.
Ragutis StreetWhen reconstructing Ragučio Street, a 6,50 m wide asphalt concrete pavement would be installed, which would be adapted to public transport traffic.
Balsiu Street (from Žaliųjų ežerų street towards Ragučio street). In the section from Žaliųjų ežerų street to Ragučio street, pedestrian and bicycle paths would be built on the right side of the street (when viewed from the intersection with Žaliųjų ežerų street). The part of Balsių street from the intersection with Ragučio street to Balsių elementary school would be widened, ensuring a 6,50 m carriageway width for public transport traffic and installing a street curb for rainwater collection.
Will redo some intersections
The design proposals indicate that the intersection of Balsiai and Ragučio streets would be reconstructed into a roundabout. The width of the roundabout would be the same as the Ragučio and Visalaukis roundabouts – 6 meters.
Meanwhile, the four-way intersection of Balsiai and Bubilo streets would be converted into a three-way intersection. Part of Bubilo street would become a dead end, so that transit traffic would no longer travel along this street. The other part of the street, up to the Vilnius Balsiai Progymnasium, grades 4-8, would be reconstructed, and a new bicycle path would be installed.
