Vilnius city municipality announces that on Thursday, June 19, from 5 a.m. to 21 p.m., a protest action will be held at Independence Square to express dissatisfaction with the decisions of government institutions regarding tax reform. During the event, vehicle traffic and parking in the center of the capital will be restricted.
Protesters plan to park tractors on Gediminas Avenue - from A. Goštautos to Jogailas Streets, but without blocking main intersections, pedestrian crossings, entrances to yards, and public transport stops. Tractors will also be parked on Gynėju Street near Independence Square.
Traffic and parking restrictions
From June 18th at 18pm to June 19th at 21pm. Parking of vehicles will be prohibited on Gynenė Street, except for the tractors of protest participants.
June 19 from 5 a.m. to 21 p.m. Vehicle traffic on Gedimino Avenue will be prohibited, except for the flow of residents, service providers and public transport.
Preparations for the protest are being made in advance - preparatory work for the meeting will begin on Wednesday, June 18, from 18 p.m.
Possible changes in public transport
During the protest, there may be disruptions to public transport schedules, so the city municipality recommends planning trips in advance and with plenty of time.
